Lady Gaga has said she wants to ‘last past 27′
Lady Gaga has said she will kick herself into touch to avoid dying before turning 28.
Gaga assured fans that she wants to live for as long as possible and that neither she or they have to ‘torture’ themselves.
Speaking on US radio show Elvis Duran and the Z100 Morning Show, she said: ‘I do put that pressure on myself; I have to be high to be creative. I need that, that’s an error in my life that happened for over 10 years.
‘Can I be brilliant without it? I know that I can be and I have to be because I want to live, and I want my fans to want to live. I don’t want them to torture themselves in the way I have.
‘I want to show people that I will last past 27 and I will last longer, and so will you.’
Lady Gaga suggested that the way celebs are treated by the media adds pressure.
The singer, 27, added: ‘I want to change this code in the atmosphere that in order to be remembered, I must die young. In order to be remembered as a legend, I must be dead first. This is unhealthy.
‘The way that [celebrities] are treated by the media, this is unhealthy. Not just me, I am just one of many people that are treated poorly by the media.’
The ’27 club’ topic last surfaced when singer Amy Winehouse died on July 23, 2011.
Other artists who passed away before their 28th birthday include Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendix and Janis Joplin.
Meanwhile, the Born This Way singer’s latest record ARTPOP is on course to top charts after shifting 47,000 copies since it was released on November 11.
