RIP Colonel Meow, 'The Angriest Cat in the World'

He stole the Internet's heart with his foreboding stare, angry disposition and ferociously fluffy mane.
Colonel Meow, notoriously known by all his fawning fans as the "The Angriest Cat in the World," has sadly departed us Wednesday evening, leaving behind a legacy far beyond any other feline's dreams.

"Colonel Meow passed away yesterday evening," his owner, Anne Marie Avey,  wrote in a Facebook post Thursday. "I will post more about the details when I've had a few days to grieve. Thank you so much for your understanding, Minions. Your love and support has meant the world to us both."  

 

Meow's "minions," to which Avey refers, are the cat's thousands of loyal followers.
To put his fan following in perspective, here's a breakdown: The Colonel has 144,000 followers on Instagram and more than 356,000 "likes" on his Facebook page.
