Saudi doctors used advanced medical equipment to save the life of a
three-year-old boy who swallowed a coin by accident in just 10 minutes.
The boy was rushed to hospital in the Western Saudi town of Makkah with breathing difficulty and pale face after swallowing the coin which settled down in his throat.
“We decided to perform an operation after an X-ray showed the coin is stuck in his pharynx…it lasted around 10 minutes after which the coin was removed and the boy was allowed to go home,” Sabq daily said, quoting Dr Abdullah Al Shanbari, a consultant who performed the operation.
