Britney Spears/Grade B-
An auburn-haired Brit Brit was all glammed up in an ultra-low cut, shimmering art deco number from Michael Costello Couture. Unfortunately, it showed a little too much skin to be considered classy and the choker necklace was completely unecessary.
The "American Hustle" star stunned in a mirrored, long-sleeved Tom Ford frock and sophisticated locks.
Lupita Nyong'o/Grade B
While the Best Actress in a Supporting Role winner was beautiful, her Miu Miu dress with fringed detailing at the top couldn't compare to the the gorgeousness of her other awards season gowns. Sometimes the "12 Years a Slave" star, 31, is just too stylish for her own good!
Amy Adams/Grade B
The Best Actress nominee was impeccable in an ivory one-shoulder, Grecian gown by Carolina Herrera, with her tresses pulled back and jewelry by Tiffany and Co.
Taylor Swift/Grade B
While the 24-year-old's hair and makeup were lovely as usual, the shimmering Julien Macdonald dress that the "Red" singer wore was, quite frankly, a boring choice. Maybe next time Swift will step out in something more daring.
Serena Williams/Grade B
The 32-year-old tennis pro, who also dabbles in fashion, was pretty in a pink Michael Costello design that showed off her toned physique with plenty of cutouts. Romantic, wavy locks finished the beautiful look.
Emma Roberts/Grade A-
The newly engaged 23-year-old was fabulous in a Fendi dress, Dior rings, and a bag from Swarovski.
Kate Beckinsale/Grade A-
The gorgeous 40-year-old actress was golden in a sheer, shimmering halter-neck Elie Saab dress with cutouts.
Kim Kardashian/Grade B-
Whoa! Kim K., 33, chose a lovely color and a pretty shape with this Celia Kritharioti ball gown, but she showed way too much cleavage to pull off the sophisticated look that we presume she was going for.
more lovely pics after the cut
Khloé Kardashian/Grade A-
Much like her big sister Kim, Khloé appeared to be going for a sophisticated look, which she almost achieved in a deep red, low-cut Marc Bouwer dress. If only she had opted for better undergarments.
Kourtney Kardashian/Grade A
The eldest Kardashian sister was seriously stylish in a Saint Laurent tux — without showing any cleavage at all. Imagine that!
Pink/Grade C+
The singer toughened up a sweet, lace dress with a shrunken leather jacket and her signature pompadour. What do you think?
Sofia Vergara/Grade A
The Colombian beauty, 41, looked incredible in a Roberto Cavalli halter dress with cutouts and a mermaid skirt.
Paula Patton/Grade B-
There's no doubt that the 38-year-old looked incredible — especially in light of her fresh split from Robin Thicke — but, unfortunately, the bottom half of her plunging Celia Kritharioti dress was a little too reminiscent of a bridal gown, and not in a good way.
Anne Hathaway/Grade B
The Oscar presenter changed into a lovely black-and-white Viktor & Rolf dress for the afterparties.
Vanessa Hudgens/Grade B-
The "Spring Breakers" star played it a little too safe with this Philosophy design. We wish the 25-year-old actress would have opted for something a bit more young and fun!
Lady Gaga/Grade B+
The Versace devotee (and the celebrity face of the brand) kept it simple, skipping the decadent accessories and leaving her locks down. Her Versace dress, however, was quite complicated, with lots of sheer paneling up top and an ethereal, flowing skirt on the bottom.
Mindy Kaling/Grade B
"The Mindy Project" actress, 34, rocked a strapless black gown made by her show's costume designer, Salvador Perez. Up close, the detail on the dress was fantastic! She finished the look with Jimmy Choo pumps and Neil Lane jewels.
Ellen Page/Grade B
The former Oscar nominee (for "Juno") rocked a classically styled, cool Saint Laurent tux, which appeared to be a trend among those who didn't want to dress like anyone else for the fete. (See Kourtney Kardashian at Elton John's annual bash and Oscars host Ellen DeGeneres on stage.)
Ireland Baldwin/Grade A-
Looking not at all like an 18-year-old, the daughter of former Oscar winner Kim Basinger and former Oscar nominee Alec Baldwin was lovely in a silky, magenta halt er-neck number by Donna Karan. If she ever sports the look again, might we suggest a top knot?
Elizabeth Banks/Grade C-
While the "Hunger Games" hottie was chic from the waist up, the feathers on the bottom of her Jenny Packham ensemble appeared to be ripped off a Muppet
Amy Poehler/Grade C
Sorry, Amy! While everyone loves the "Parks and Recreation" star's sense of humor, we weren't loving the floral Peter Som dress she chose for arguably the fanciest night of the year in Tinseltown.
Chrissy Teigen/Grade B+
The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl, 28, sizzled in Jimmy Choo heels, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and a black Naeem Khan gown. It revealed a lot of leg and the glossy top added a hint of superhero without taking it too far.
Allison Williams/Grade C
Williams, 25, looked regal in this Emilia Wickstead gown that was paired with Brian Atwood heels. Love this look, but it's a lot of fabric (and a lot of bubble-gum pink) to pull off.
Selena Gomez/Grade B
Gomez shines in simple designs and there was a lot to look at in the plunging, semi-sheer Emilio Pucci halter neck gown she sported on the night of the Oscars. But Gomez, 20, found at least one devoted fan of this dress choice. Her ex, Justin Bieber, posted a photo of her on his Instagram page and referred to her as the "most elegant princess in the world."
Reese Witherspoon/Grade C
Even with the plunging neckline, this Boss gown was a little business-y for an afterparty. Witherspoon, 37, paired it with Irene Neuwirth earrings and a Roger Vivier clutch.
Elisabeth Moss/Grade B
The "Mad Men" star, 31, chose a fun dress from Houghton with the ever-popular sheer paneling on top. She completed her look with hot pink lips.
Penelope Cruz/Grade B
Cruz, 39, traded the designer Giambattista gown she sported on the Oscars red carpet for this custom, flamenco-inspired dress from H&M. A similar gown will launch in April as part of their Conscious Exclusive Collection. No word on the price tag.
Anna Kendrick/Grade A-
After joking that she felt out of place at the ceremony for missing the white dress memo, Kendrick wowed in this Versace Couture gown with a keyhole cutout and geometric details. Kendrick, 28, paired it with a Rauwolf clutch and Jack Vartanian jewelry.
Kristen Bell/Grade A
Bell, 33, sizzled in a red Zuhair Murad gown with a cinched waist.
Olivia Munn/Grade C-
The vintage Alexander McQueen gown would have been a win without the complicated halter system. Munn, 33, paired it with a Marchesa clutch and Jimmy Choo heels.
Kate Hudson/Grade A
Hudson is a pro when it comes to dressing for award shows and she proved it with this Zuhair Murad gown with embroidered and beaded detail (after knocking it out of the park in an earlier Versace gown for the show). The 34-year-old carried a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch and added Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
Diane Kruger/Grade B
This may be an offbeat choice for an Oscar party, but Kruger should be applauded for her willingness to take fashion risks like she did with this sheer Valentino gown. And she often does so without the help of a stylist. "I come from fashion," the 37-year-old former model told Vogue U.K. "Who knows better what I like than myself?"
Gabrielle Union/Grade B
Someone got the memo about plunging necklines… The "Being Mary Jane" star and Dwyane Wade's fiancée rocked an elegant, black gown featuring one of spring's hottest trend. She also nailed one more in the beauty department: a berry lip. Unfortunately, the 41-year-old star's hair was a bit off the mark.
Rumer Willis/Grade B
Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's daughter Rumer, 25, wowed when she made the afterparty scene in this flattering metallic dress.
Zooey Deschanel/Grade C
Who else is ready for the "New Girl" star to try something a little more daring? Deschanel, 34, looked adorable in an Oscar de la Renta gown, Charlotte Olympia heels, Christian Louboutin clutch, and Miki Moto pearls. However, the frock's floral pattern is so safe and expected from her at this point. Time to mix it up!
Sheryl Crow/Grade B
Can you believe Sheryl Crow is 52? The singer looked radiant at Vanity Fair's famed bash. While her dress was pretty, a statement necklace would have really made it pop.
Evan Rachel Wood/ Grade A+
Now this is a party dress! The 26-year-old actress stunned in an Elie Saab gown. The emerald color looked great with Wood's hair and it fit her like a glove.
Melanie Brown/Grade B-
Halle Berry/Grade A
Less than five months after giving birth, Halle looked beautiful. The 47-year-old Oscar-winning actress rocked a black vintage Versace dress and Harry Winston jewelry to the Fame & Philanthropy Oscars celebration. Love the asymmetrical cut!
Paris Hilton/Grade B-
The hotel heiress, 33, showed up at an Oscars afterparty looking a little like one of "The Real Housewives of Orange County" in her beaded gown, "Valley of the Dolls" hair, and nude patent leather pumps.
