openly gay player Michael Sam Signs with the Canadian Football League

Michael Sam may not have made the roster of an NFL team, but the openly gay player has found luck in the Canadian Football League.
The Montreal Alouettes announced today that it has signed Michael to a one-year deal with an option to play in 2016.
Jim Popp, the team’s general manager, released the following statement.
“With the signing of Michael Sam, we have become a better organization today. Not only have we added an outstanding football player, we have added even a better person that brings dignity, character, and heart to our team.”
Michael was the first openly gay player drafted by the NFL back in 2014. He was later cut by the St. Louis Rams and Dallas Cowboys before playing a single game.
Hopefully Michael’s CFL performance will inspire NFL teams to take notice again.
Congratulations, Michael.
