Former NFL Linebacker Adrian Robinson Jr. died Saturday night. He was 25. His agency confirmed the news but did not release a cause of death. Robinson began his professional career after graduating from Temple University, when he played 12 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2012.
He then went on to play for the Philadelphia Eagles after being traded for Felix Jones. He only spent a short time with the Eagles, however, as he was then waived after only eight days, but the Denver Broncos picked him up. He played for the Broncos in 2013 during the first half of the season before they went on to make it to the Super Bowl. But the team waived him as well to add another player to its lineup.
Even though he spent only a short time with the Colorado-based team, it sparks sad memories because the Broncos have already lost three players who never made it to their 25th birthdays, according to a local NBC News affiliate: cornerback Darrent Williams (2007), running back Damien Nash (2007) and receiver Kenny McKinley (2010). “It deeply saddens all of us to share with you that Adrian Robinson Jr. passed away last night at the age of 25,” Robinson’s agency, Symmetry, said in a statement on its Facebook page. “Adrian was a beloved father, son, brother, friend and teammate. We ask that you please respect his family’s privacy during this difficult time, and especially keep his daughter Avery Marie in your prayers. Thank you for all of your support and consideration.”
