Dare-devil act in Dubai: Blindfolded quadruple-wheel stunt

Dubai sees yet another first-time act in the world, as 5,000 visitors stand awed by the thrilling Vander Skywheel performance.

Four men performed on the outside of a rotating frame for the first time ever in the world at Global Village, Dubai’s leading family entertainment and cultural attraction.

This exclusive Global Village act is the only Skywheel team in the world currently performing a quadruple-wheel stunt where all four members of the troupe are simultaneously standing on the outside of the wheel. The show also features two of the performers on the outside of their wheels completing a rotation totally blindfolded to add further suspense and drama to the performance.
The highly energetic and thrilling Vander Skywheel performance from the UK has had over 5,000 audience members at Global Village mesmerized.


Visitors watched open mouthed as the performers each move on to the outside of the spinning wheels and juggle, skip rope, and walk a full rotation blindfolded.
Vander Skywheel’s debut performance was held last year as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in the UK. Since then they have been performing at festivals, regattas, and retreats all around the UK and mainland Europe.

 he team leader Wayne Vander Westhuizen, is a flying trapeze performer who started on the Skywheel in 1985, and said “Global Village is a great place for us to come and it really suits what we do. We are a small but international team with myself being from South Africa and the rest of the team from the UK, and we perform all around the world. It has been a great honour to perform at such a culturally interesting event, and in front of such massive crowds.”

Along with Wayne, the other members of the troupe are Jamie Lee Coldham, Daniel Tate-Potts, and Billy Robinson, who all took classes at the Blackpool Circus School and this is their first time visiting the Middle East.
The Vander Skywheel is just one of a host of events that Global Village is providing during the current season to keep families entertained with exhilarating and highly entertaining thrill shows adding a new experience for visitors.
